It was at the end of May 2024, my first 3 day workshop by none other than the famous Casey Baugh Casey Baugh who lives in New York and gives workshops in oil and charcoal in various places around the world. This workshop was in Rome, which seemed like a great opportunity for me to discover this city as well. What fantastic days these were, learning so much from Casey. Our group of 9 people from different countries (Canada, Singapore, Moldova, USA, Italy, someone from Belgium and me from the Netherlands) were all talented people, some already professional artists, others hobbyists and a few had started later in life. We learned so much from Casey. Not only in terms of technique but also about ourselves and the artist world. And that it is not just about an end product but the road to it, how and why and how to make your work more artistic and expressive, how to feel more and have courage and what is really important. The workshop was held on a boat rented by Casey in the Tiber River. They were tremendously inspiring days in a beautiful city.
